The Literary Interface

Dialogues, the literary forum of the department hosted an interactive session with authors on 26.02.26 at the college seminar hall. It was followed by a dance adaptation of Maya Angelou's "Phenomenal Woman" by the UG Students.     

A Moment of Distinction

  We are delighted to share that Ms Nivedya K. Kumar, our fourth-semester B.A. English Honours student has secured the University Merit Scholarship of the University of Calicut, in recognition of her exemplary performance in the University Examinations. 

Peer Teaching

                     On 18th February 2026, the Postgraduate students of our department conducted a teaching session for the Second and Fourth Semester B.A. English Honours students, introducing them to the various genres of Fiction and Poetry, and engaging them with key concepts such as marginalisation and intersectionality.

Koodiyattam Lecture Demonstration - SPICMACAY

             The Department of English, in association with SPICMACAY, conducted a lecture demonstration on Koodiyattam, the ancient Sanskrit theatre tradition of India, with a special focus on the fourfold abhinaya as described in the Natyasastra . Kalamandalam Girija, along with her students, offered the graduate and postgraduate students a glimpse into the art on 6 January 2026. The session witnessed active participation from students of other departments as well, thereby introducing the academic community to an aspect of the Indian Knowledge System.

Documentary Screening - Saving walden's World - 28/01/26

  Saving Walden's World  is an award-winning documentary directed by Jim Merkel. It follows Merkel's journey from a former arms dealer and military engineer to a sustainability advocate raising his son Walden on an off-grid homestead. The film explores women-led solutions in Kerala (India), Cuba, and Slovenia, highlighting sustainable societies with universal access to education, healthcare, and women's rights amid climate challenges. The documentary was screened by Prisma, the film forum of the department, together with the college film club on 28th January 2026. The screening was followed by a very active discussion and interaction.
